Our mission is to educate those adults and children in most socio economic need in techniques of alternative health care, nutrition and yoga exercise so that they for little cost can improve their quality of life. This web site is to inform and raise awareness of the need for yoga in this area. We are hoping that visitors are willing to donate to the cause. Yoga in Africa is partner to PranaVinyasa School of Yoga which is a not-for-profit organization. Please visit pranavinyasa.org for more information. In 2008, we are working towards launching our first healing yoga conference in Hammamet, Tunisia, North Africa. After the conference local people previously chosen will attend a 200 hour initial yoga certification course. They will then be encouraged to return to their own communities and pass on the benefits of therapeutic and physical yoga. It is hoped that enough funds will be raised to build and maintain a permanent teaching training center. The center on a regular basis, will work with local people by offering educational scholarships to become alternative health care practitioners and yoga exercise instructors. |

We, PranaVinyasaTM, are a non-profit United States corporation offering Yoga teacher certification including herbalism, and other natural healing modalities. We are expanding into Hammamet, Tunisia from our base in the United States. In a practical way our intention is: Ø Through the use of Yoga exercise or alternative health care techniques we hope to reach families with difficulties, who would not normally have access to mainstream health care or education. Ø To invite individuals who are unable to afford, maybe have little access to traditional medicine, to learn techniques that through practice will improve the present state of health. Ø To take individuals through a recognized professional teaching program so that they make take gained knowledge back to other families and communities they have contact with.
To date we have had recorded success with:
Ø Children and adults with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Arthritis as well as pre and post Natal mothers. Ø Young and pregnant women who feel ostracized from main stream provision. Ø Seniors, who take yoga classes as part of continuing education in efforts to keep moving. Ø Seniors who are unable to care for themselves and reside in residential homes. A member of our group has been visiting this area of North Africa for several years and has worked with children and adults who have not had proper access to medical care. We sadden to see many children and adults in this area who do not have access to doctors or finances to provide for treatment. This is especially true for those whose condition can be improved by the therapeutic use of yoga. We have not been able to find any facility such as the kind we would like to offer. Preventative medicine to stop health crises is almost unknown. A small amount of resources can have a huge effect. Additional information including donation through Pay Pal can be found on our website: www.pranavinyasa.org following the links to donations. Thank you for your consideration, if you can, please, donate to this project or give us advice on how to further this cause. PranaVinyasa, Inc. |

Although Tunisia is a stable country many of its people still do not have access to doctors or formal facilities. It is hoped that through the introduction of yoga to Northern Africa primarily to improve the quality of life for those mainly women and children who do not have access to mainstream health care. For those who understand yoga there will be an understanding of the gift yoga is for those who use it as a daily practice is a gift for life. We are looking for sponsors to help deliver this initiative, and there are many ways in which this can be achieved. How can sponsors can help?:
Local organizations that work with women and children with disabilities, college students who are taking sports science or those responsible for unemployed people who may have an interest will be asked to submit people for training. Through the web site a number of Tunisian people have already responded and are very interested in the training but cannot afford it and there are no yoga schools in that area. |
